Preflight duties are divided by station to ensure every part of the cabin is checked without leaving others unstaffed. The emergency equipment in the Crew Rest Areas is tucked away in a location that only the crew assigned to those rest areas can readily access and verify. Therefore, the flight attendants who are designated to the Crew Rest Areas are the ones responsible for preflighting that equipment. They know exactly where the gear is stored, what items to check (oxygen systems, PBE, first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, etc.), and how to confirm it’s present and serviceable before pushback. This arrangement keeps the rest areas secure and ensures the rest of the cabin remains covered as checks are completed.

Other crew members handle preflight duties for their respective sections, so assigning the Crew Rest Areas’ checks to the rest-area team prevents gaps in readiness and avoids unnecessary movement during the preflight process.
